Nana Yaa Akyempem Jantuah, General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has expressed dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo government's handling of the economy.
She claims the current government made a lot of enticing promises in 2016 that helped it win a significant number of Ghanaian votes.
But after more than seven years in office, they have done virtually nothing to fulfil their campaign promises.
She said despite their failure, the government has now turned around to rob Ghanaians, citing the refusal to exempt pensioners from the debt exchange program. She made this statement on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem.
She compared the current state of Ghanaians and the government's attitude to the well-known story of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves.
"Do you think you have benefited Ghanaians in any way? You are just wasting our money and acting like Ali Baba and the 40 thieves.
“They now want to impoverish all of us and make themselves rich and shape the middle class and that is the bonds they have touched now. Is that not the situation we find ourselves in?” she quizzed.
She alleged that the ultimate plan of the New Patriotic Party government is to wait until 2024 and inject cash into the system to support and further their 'Break the 8' agenda.
