Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas' GH₵25 million suit against Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has been dismissed by the Accra High Court.
According to Justice Eric Baah, Anas failed to prove that Ken Agyapong defamed him by airing the documentary 'Who watches the watchman'. Instead, the documentary exposed shady dealings by Anas and his associates.
This came after Anas, in 2018, sued a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly defaming him.
To compensate for the false information published about him by the MP, Anas asked the court to award him GHS25 million against Mr Agyapong.
The court concluded that Mr Agyapong was within his rights to describe Anas as "blackmailer, corrupt, extortionist and evil" and that what Anas was doing was not investigative journalism but investigative terrorism.
“I find the claims by the plaintiff [Anas Aremeyaw Anas) meritless and they are hereby dismissed” Justice Baah ruled.
