Any Ghanaian who prays against Akufo-Addo's success does so at his own risk - Reverend

People who don't want President Akufo-Addo and the country to do well have been called out by the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Anglican Church for West Africa.

Most Rev.

At a New Year's service at Jubilee House on Tuesday, Dr. Cyril Ben Smith asked Ghanaians to pray for the President in both good and bad times.

He said, "Any Ghanaian who prays against this country and President Akufo-success Addo's does so at his own risk."

He said that, like King David in the Bible, President Akufo-Addo is facing complaints and mutterings about his constant desire to build the national cathedral, but he shouldn't worry because there is a trustworthy God.

"You and other world leaders, like King David, faced the same problems that we are still facing, like people complaining and crowds crying out.

"David stood firm in his beliefs despite the insults and lack of understanding of issues that were clear to everyone," he said.

"It's a fact of life that there will always be people who will help and support you in different ways.

They're on your side, and there will always be people who agree with what your Excellency calls "naysayers." They're there now, and they'll always be there.

Don't worry, we have a God who can be trusted."

He said that building the national cathedral is the President's way of showing God's love, and that it will happen "no matter what the doubters say."

When President Akufo-Addo spoke at the New Year's service, he was hopeful that even though Ghana's economy was bad, the best was yet to come.

Ghana is currently trying to get a bailout from the International Monetary Fund, but it is hard for the country to meet the requirements for such a program.

But President Akufo-Addo is counting on Ghanaians to work together to change the country's luck.

"Let me say again that I'm sure the best days of mother Ghana are ahead of us if we have a spirit of fairness, hard work, honesty, and peace.

Even though we are having trouble with our economy right now, I have no doubt, as I said on January 6, that we will work together to solve these problems and get our country back on the path to progress and prosperity.
