At 8:15 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023, one of the deadliest fires broke out in Sofoline, Kwadaso. It caused a lot of damage to furniture factories just behind the Sofoline lorry terminal, a few meters from Prempeh College.
Workers weren't there when the sad and heartbreaking thing happened, but a lot of people came to the scene to see how bad it was. Within a couple of hours, finished goods worth millions of Ghana Cedis were destroyed by the fire.
People aren't sure what caused this fire, but they think that most of the workers burn trash after their daily work, which could have led to a terrible situation that will affect more than 200 workers.
At the rate the shops were burning, it took two fire trucks from the Ghana National Fire Service up to two hours to stop the fire from spreading to other areas.
The Ghana Police Service, NADMO, and other security agencies were there, and their outstanding work helped to calm things down.
