C/R:Hunter Shoots Palm Wine Tapper To Death At Ajumako

Kofi Adjei, a 52-year-old palm wine tapper, was shot and killed at Etsi Bewora in the Central Region's Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.

The accident happened at Etsi Bewora, where the person who died and his family lived.

The suspect, Kobina Afful, has since been taken into custody by the Ajumako District Police Command to help with the investigation. It is not clear if the suspect has a problem with the person who died, though.

Based on what has been learned, the man who died went to his farm around 11 a.m. to make Akpeteshie, a local gin, when the bad thing happened.

Maame Akua Yedua, the wife of the man who died, told Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that her husband left home at 10:30 a.m. to check on his business, but 30 minutes later, he heard gunshots.

Maame Akua Yedua heard gunshots because the farm is close to the house. She went to the scene and saw her husband lying in a pool of blood.

She said that the suspect shot her husband in the head, which killed her right away.

Abraham Eshun, an Assembly Member for the Abeadze Kyeakor Electoral Area, was shocked because the person who died was a stranger who had just moved into the area.

Abraham Eshun also asked the Ghana Police Service and the government to control what hunters can do in the area because this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

Some angry people in Abeadze Kyeakor are also calling for justice, saying that if it doesn't come, they will fight for their rights.
