Chairman Wontumi ‘exposes’ Kumawu’s independent candidate?

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused Kwaku Duah, an independent candidate in the Kumawu by-election, of defecting to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) according to a report by Adom Online.

In an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen show, Chairman Wontumi claimed that despite the NDC fielding a candidate, Kwaku Duah is still running to deceive the public, and has even changed his campaign posters to match the NDC colours.

According to Wontumi, the NDC is now trying to persuade Mr Duah to join their party and has even met with former President John Mahama to seek his support. This has reportedly upset the NDC's chosen candidate at Kumawu, who is now questioning why the party has abandoned him.

Nonetheless, Wontumi is confident that the NPP will win the by-election due to their strong track record in the constituency and in various sectors. He added that the NPP is not afraid of any candidate the NDC may field, even if it was Lordina Mahama.
