In a tragic and heart-wrenching incident, the Ghanaian community mourns the untimely passing of Portia Owusuaa Asante, a vibrant 29-year-old bride. Just two weeks after her joyous wedding to Samuel Fokuo Akosah-Brempong at the Nkawkaw Central SDA Church on July 2, 2023, a devastating accident occurred on July 18, 2023.

Portia was on her way back from Mampong, traveling as a passenger on a Zhong Tong Bus with registration number GW 5546-23. The bus driver attempted to yield to an overtaking vehicle, but tragically lost control, causing the bus to veer off the road and crash into the nearby bushes. In this heart-wrenching accident, Portia, along with two others, lost their lives on the spot, while many others suffered severe injuries.

Blogger Kobby Kyei reported the incident, appreciating the prompt response of the Ghana Police and ambulance service in promptly attending to the injured passengers and providing necessary medical assistance.

The news of Portia's passing has left her loved ones and the public deeply concerned about the alarming frequency of road accidents involving young Ghanaians. As the family grieves this tremendous loss, they have scheduled Portia's funeral to be held on August 29, 2023.
