Criminologist Urges Police to Probe Beyond GH¢5k Refund Demand in Adum Lover Killing Case

Dr. Jones Opoku-Ware, a criminologist and lecturer at KNUST, in an interview with Citi News believes that there may be more to the alleged murder of a police officer's girlfriend in Adum, Kumasi than just the demand for a refund of GH¢5000. He argues that because the police officer was in a romantic relationship with the deceased, there may be other underlying issues that led to the crime.

Although the police officer has been remanded into custody after allegedly pulling the trigger when the deceased refused to refund the money he claimed she owed him, Dr. Opoku-Ware thinks that investigating the relationship between the victim and the suspect may provide better insight into why the crime occurred.

Dr. Opoku-Ware believes that there could be other precursors to the issue, which suggests that there were other factors at play that led to the alleged murder. He also points out that it's not easy for someone to murder their lover simply because they refused to pay back a debt.

Furthermore, Dr. Opoku-Ware attributes the high incidence of murder cases in the Ashanti Region to the low conviction rate, which may embolden others to commit such crimes.

In summary, Dr. Opoku-Ware urges investigators to look beyond the refund issue and consider other underlying issues in the relationship between the victim and suspect to better understand why the alleged murder occurred.
