Dawn rainstorm: 2 children swept away by floodwaters at Babadongo

The people of Babadongo in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, near Bortianor, have been thrown into a state of mourning.

This follows reports that two children were swept away during the heavy rains on Tuesday morning, 7 March 2023.

An 11-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy tried to escape with their parents when the floodwaters reached their home.
However, the children were swept away by the swift current as they tried to cross, shocking some residents of Babadongo.

Kofi Adjei of Adom News, who went to the scene, reported that the heavy rains had caused the nearby bridge to overflow and flood the area.

He alleged that the father of the deceased tried in vain to rescue his children.

After locals conducted a search, the children's bodies were discovered about a mile from their home, according to Kofi Adjei.

Many places have been flooded as a result of Tuesday's heavy rains across the country.

Moving around Accra can be a challenge for many commuters and motorists due to flooding in several areas.
