Don't read Quran or pray, just celebrate and not mourn my death': Iranian man’s last words before being hanged to death

Majidreza Rahnavard, an Iranian man, was put to death on December 12. Before he died, he was asked for his last words, which said that his death should be celebrated.

Majidreza Rahnavard was hanged to death four days after Mohsen Shekari, 23, was put to death for wounding a member of the security forces.

A video of his last words is making the rounds on the internet. Rahnavard was hanged in public on December 12, 2022, because he was thought to have been involved in protests against the government.

The last words of the Iranian man were (translated), "I don't want anyone to cry over me when I'm dead. I don't want them to pray or read from the Quran, "He said this when asked what he would put in his will. Later, Rahnavard said that instead of mourning his death, people should celebrate it: "Just celebrate and play music about celebrating."

Darya Safai, a member of the Belgian Parliament, posted a video to Twitter that showed Rahnavard blindfolded and surrounded by two guards.

Protests against the government in Iran have been shaking the regime for months.

Along with the protests in the native region, the anger and dissatisfaction were also shown during the World Cup of Football.

Four months ago, these protests began to get justice for the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while he was in custody (with the morality police).
