Drunkards Association suspends president Akufo-Addo?

Moses Onyeh, also known as Dry Bone and the President of the Ghana Drunkards Association (GDA), has announced that the Association has suspended the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, for two weeks due to his decision to increase taxes on alcohol according to a publication by theheraldghana.com.

This suspension was intended to prevent the President from consuming any alcoholic beverages during the Easter holidays. Dry Bone stated on the political program "The Gumbe Show" on TV XYZ that the President is a member of the Association, and to increase taxes on their source of enjoyment is a betrayal.

If the President fails to reverse his decision after the two weeks' ultimatum, he will face further sanctions, including revocation of his membership by withdrawing his license.

Dry Bone explained that the Association's 10.6 million members could have chosen to spoil their ballots in any election or embark on a demonstration, but both options would waste the country's scarce resources and undermine national security.

Therefore, the decision to suspend the President was made. Dry Bone also clarified that photos of the President will be pasted on blue kiosks, and no member will be allowed to sell alcohol to him during the suspension.

In response to Maxwell Kofi Juma's statement that people who consume alcohol are useless, Dry Bone retorted that he is the chief of uselessness. Dry Bone further explained that after the government's inability to provide the one million jobs promised to Ghanaians and job losses due to the collapse of banks, a deliberate attempt to collapse an industry that employs thousands of people, including frustrated NABCO workers who are now bar attendants and pub operators, will not be tolerated.

According to Dry Bone, Ghana consumes 1.5 million gallons of alcohol annually, excluding exports to neighboring countries such as Nigeria and Togo. Ghana's excise tax on beer is approximately 16% of the average retail price, while the excise tax on spirits is approximately 10% of the average retail price.
