Free SHS Has Increased Peer Pressures…

Joseph Yammin, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is concerned that the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy implemented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government could create a group of youth with poor educational records and standards. As a parent with a ward in the free SHS system, he has observed many problems associated with the policy that seem to have no end, which worries and gives him a headache.

Yammin believes that the current policy and the problems it is causing both parents and students could increase vices that are foreign to the country. He notes that peer pressure has become prevalent, and students are controlling their fellow students to engage in inappropriate behavior.

He expressed surprise that parents are not speaking out against the policy, which he describes as terrible and bad. Yammin believes that instead of the government reviewing the policy, they are unwilling to do so because they fear being seen as a failure by Ghanaians. He argues that the policy has experienced a shortage of food and other situations, but the government is unwilling to listen to reason.

Yammin notes that peer pressure has taken over, and students are attending extra classes in locations their parents may not know. During these classes, children can be influenced by their peers to engage in undesirable behaviors. He argues that this is a critical time when children are susceptible to peer pressure, and without proper guidance from headmasters and housemasters, their friends will take over.

Yammin notes that because of the Free SHS policy, parents are losing their children to all manner of habits and lifestyles, sometimes to the point of destruction. He laments that the government does not seem to care about the future of the nation, and people are quiet about the uncoordinated situation of the Free SHS policy, which is making things difficult for all.

In summary, Joseph Yammin is worried about the problems associated with the Free SHS policy implemented by the NPP government. He believes that the policy could lead to an increase in vices that are foreign to the country and that parents are losing their children to all manner of habits and lifestyles. Yammin calls for the government to review the policy and make the necessary changes to ensure a better future for the country.
