GH¢2.6m Is Chicken Change To Rev Kusi Boateng - Chairman Wontumi

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Okudzeto Ablakwa, was criticized by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, for making false claims that the National Cathedral Secretariat illegally gave GH2.6 million to Rev. Kusi Boateng.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as "Chairman Wontumi," said that he has known Rev. Kusi Boateng for more than 35 years and that, based on the assets Rev. Kusi Boateng has, GH2.6 million is nothing to him.

So, he told Wontumi TV that Rev. Kusi Boateng would not do something bad for GH2.6 million to hurt his reputation.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, an MP from North Tongu, said that the Secretary of the National Cathedral Secretariat, Rev. Kusi Boateng, had a conflict of interest and was corrupt. The National Cathedral Secretariat responded by saying that the payment made to the company (JNS Talent Centre) that Okudzeto Ablakwa is connected to Rev. Kusi Boateng was a refund of a loan the company had given to the Secretariat.

Mr. Ablakwa said earlier in the day in a social media post that Rev. Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana, was the third director of JNS Talent Cantre Limited, a company that got GH2.6 million from the Secretariat.

"Irrefutable proof shows that Mr. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the well-known Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, who still works as an Executive Council Member/Director for the National Cathedral Board...

"Just to clear things up, there is no unique Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng made Kwabena Adu Gyamfi up to do corrupt dealings”

Rev. Dr. Opoku Mensah, the Executive Director of the Secretariat, said in response, "A normal check, which would have been expected of a Member of Parliament, would have shown that this was not an illegal payment, but rather a refund of a short-term interest-free loan made by JNS to help pay the contractors of the National Cathedral."

"A National Cathedral Trustee Member, Rev. Kusi Boateng, was asked for help in a letter dated August 26, 2021, because it was taking longer than expected to get the money to pay the Contractors on time. Rev. Kusi Boateng asked his bank, ADB, to move the GHC 2.6 million from the JNS account to the National Cathedral account on August 27, 2021.

"The National Cathedral gave Rev. Kusi Boateng and JNS the GHC 2.6 million back on September 21, 2022."
