Ghana FA reports shameful American referee to FIFA over dubious penalty decision

The Ghana Football Association has complained to FIFA about the shameful behavior of US referee Ismail Elfath, who gave Portugal a questionable penalty without checking the VAR.

The Ghana FA has asked the world governing body to punish the disgraceful decision, which made fun of the much-touted VAR and threw technology in the trash.

After giving a suspicious penalty to the Black Stars at the 974 Stadium in Doha, Qatar, the referee in the Major Soccer League has been getting more and more bad press.

The American official who was born in Morocco didn't want to look at the VAR screen again, so he ruled that Mohammed Salisu's challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo was a foul.

But TV replays have shown that the referee made a mistake and that the decision shouldn't have stood.

This shameful decision has angered people all over the world, and many are wondering what the point of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is if it can't stop these kinds of bad things from happening.

The questionable penalty that was given to Portugal changed the game and made it harder for the Europeans to win 3-2 in Doha on Thursday night. Ronaldo became the first player to score in five World Cups.

Referee Ismail Elfath's decision not to look at his first decision again has shocked the whole world.

After Ronaldo put away the controversial penalty, it didn't take long for Ghana to score again. In the 75th minute, Andre Ayew took a pass from teammate Mohammed Kudus and put the ball past the Portuguese keeper.

Soon after that, Joao Felix gave Portugal the lead back in minute 78, and Rafael Leao made it even bigger in minute 80.

In minute 89, Osman Bukari of Ghana was able to close the gap, but it was too late for the Black Stars to win.

The other two teams in Group H, Uruguay and South Korea, tied 0-0 in their game earlier today.

With the controversial win, Portugal is already in the lead as the team tries to get out of the group stage.
