Ghana Is On A Begging Mission - Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his confusion regarding the fact that Ghana is resorting to begging but is unwilling to live within its means.

The North Tongu Member of Parliament criticized President Akufo-Addo for his lavish lifestyle and his failure to reduce the size of the bloated government. Ablakwa admonished the government for the self-inflicted difficulties they have caused, which have led to significant hardships for citizens.

He made these remarks in response to the recent addition of employees at the Office of the President, which has increased the total number from 998 to 1048. Ablakwa noted that Ghana is currently undergoing the most severe economic crisis in recent memory, with high levels of debt-to-GDP and an inability to meet financial obligations.

Despite this, the government continues to beg for assistance from various sources, including a recent trip by the finance minister to China.

Ablakwa expressed his surprise that President Akufo-Addo did not downsize the government in light of the country's economic struggles but instead increased the number of positions, many of which he deemed questionable.
