Ghana Military Arrest Illegal Miners, Instructs Them To Laugh And Sing In Video

The Ghanaian military has apprehended illegal miners in the Eastern Region and instructed them to appear happy and sing in a video.

A video has been circulating on social media of military personnel arresting illegal miners at River Birim in Ghana's Eastern Region.

The video shows the military officers apprehending a group of young men, who are commonly known as 'galamsey operators,' at Anyinam in the Atiwa East District.

The men were arrested while they were mining gold in the river, as evidenced by their attire and the dirt on their bodies.
In the video, the military officers can be seen instructing the men to laugh, and one officer even approaches them in a stern voice to demand that they comply.
Additionally, the men were asked to sing a song about riches while seated on the ground.

While some viewers found the video amusing, others expressed concerns.
