Hon Ken Agyapong gave me GHC 1m to pay my bank loan - Former Fomena NPP Chair confirms

Mr. Kwasi Nti, the former chairman of the NPP in the Fomena Constituency of the Ashanti Region, has confirmed that he received Gh¢1 million from Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament.

He stated that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong singlehandedly saved the NPP from losing the Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the NPP failed to pay him the money they promised.

During an interview on the Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show Dwabrem, Mr. Kwasi Nti disclosed that the NPP had promised him Gh¢1 million to step down as the party's chairman after the Fomena MP demanded his resignation. He also revealed that he had demanded some Gh¢2 million from the party to settle a debt he incurred as the party’s chairman before he officially stepped down.

Despite several calls on him to give in to their demands, he was hesitant because the NPP did not fulfill the promise they made. Even after his resignation, they still did not give him the amount they pledged.

It was Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who privately gave him Gh¢1 million to defray his debt. Mr. Kwasi Nti expressed his gratitude to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong for the role he played in helping the party to gain the majority in Parliament.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong had earlier disclosed his role in settling a debt of one million Ghana cedis owed by the then Constituency Chairman of Fomena before the party got the majority. Mr. Kwasi Nti's confirmation comes after Hon. Kennedy Agyapong's revelation to some party delegates at Tema.

In conclusion, Mr. Kwasi Nti expressed his appreciation to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong for saving the NPP from a major legal tussle and helping the party to achieve its goals.
