How 2 community police assistants were assaulted over alleged fraud

Two assistants working for the Community Police in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region were brutally attacked on suspicion of defrauding a group of individuals who were known to be drug users.

The two victims, aged 26 and 33, have been hospitalized at the Juaben Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, respectively.

The attackers, numbering around ten, were caught on camera beating the two victims at different locations. Two of the attackers were seen wielding clubs, which they used to strike one of the victims on the head.

In a separate video, some of the same attackers were seen assaulting the other victim, who was eventually rescued by a group of bystanders.

According to reports, the Community Police Assistants had collected an amount of one thousand cedis from the attackers with the promise of securing bail for a friend who had been arrested for dealing in illicit drugs.

However, after the suspect was not released, it was discovered that the assistants had failed to deliver the money to their superiors. Six of the attackers have since been arrested by the police in the area for further investigations.
