"I can't marry a woman that will use GH¢400 to do makeup" - Man says

A Ghanaian man recently sparked an online debate after he made a statement that he could not marry a woman who would spend GH¢400 on makeup. This statement has been met with mixed reactions, from both men and women.

On one hand, some people agree with the man, arguing that it is extravagant to spend such a large amount of money on makeup, especially if it's not a professional makeup artist. Some argue that if a woman can't afford expensive makeup, then she should opt for cheaper alternatives and save the money for something else. On the other hand, there are those who think that makeup is a form of self-expression and artistry, and therefore should be allowed without judgement.

Regardless of the divergence of opinions, it is essential to note that all parties agree that such an amount of money should not be spent frivolously. For the man in question, it may be wise to look at a woman's financial strength and resources before considering marriage. After all, money issues are one of the biggest causes of arguments and disagreements in relationships.

Moreover, if the lady in question is using this money to express herself artistically and build her self-esteem, then this should be respected. After all, it was recently announced that the Ghanaian cosmetic market is projected to grow by a whopping 9.9 percent in the next decade, and that includes makeup and personal care products.

In conclusion, it is of utmost importance to achieve financial stability before entering into a long-term commitment such as marriage. Money should not be the main reason for deciding to enter into a marital relationship. Nevertheless, it is important to take note of the stress that money can cause in a relationship and to keep track of how it is being used.
