I closed the gap in 2020; I’ll win Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in 2024 – John Dumelo

Actor, politician and businessman, Mr John Dumelo, has expressed confidence in his ability to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat in the Greater Accra Region in the 2024 general elections.

He claimed that having made up the deficit in the 2020 elections, it was now his turn to win the seat in 2024.

The current Member of Parliament for the constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, defeated John Dumelo in the 2020 elections to retain her position.

The winning candidate for the parliamentary seat, Madam Alhassan, who contested on the platform of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 39,851 votes, according to the Electoral Commission (EC). 37,778 people voted for John Dumelo.

He picked his nomination form to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

After his first failed attempt at the 2020 elections, he will have another go at becoming the constituency’s MP if he wins the main opposition party's internal elections.

He tweeted that “Thank you all for the congratulatory messages. 2024 is a must win in Ayawaso West Wuogon. As parliamentary candidate in 2020, we closed the gap from 10,000 to under 1,900 through hard work. It’s time to take the seat. Let’s all get involved.”
