I did 'moonwalk' dance first before Michael Jackson made it popular - Reggie Rockstone

The moonwalk, also called the backslide, is a well-known dance move that many people think of as Michael Jackson's signature move.

In his 1983 single "Billie Jean," he first did the backslide dance, which he later renamed the "moonwalk."

But even though it's been around for decades, no one seems to agree on who came up with the dance move first.

Well, Reginald Yaw Asante Osei, also known as Reggie Rockstone, the "Godfather of Hiplife," says that he invented the moonwalk and that Michael Jackson only made it popular.

The "Eye Mo De Anaa" singer said on the first episode of The Doreen Avio Show, which airs on Joy Prime, that Michael Jackson's choreographer, Jeffery Daniel, is a personal friend and would back that up.

"I always tell people that we were doing the moonwalk, which you call the backslide, before Michael Jackson made it popular.

Why? Because we weren't watching Michael Jackson when he did the moonwalk and backslide.

We looked at Michael Jackson's teachers.

"I know Jeffrey Daniel personally," he told Doreen Avio.

Reggie Rockstone said that he has been made fun of for saying that he was the first person to do the moonwalk dance. He also said that he and a coworker, Adjetey Sowah, learned the move by watching Don Cornelius's "Soul Train."

He also said, "People like Adjetey Sowah were doing the backslide long before Michael Jackson made it popular.

The name "moonwalk" comes from them.

We called it a slide backward."

In a previous interview with Channels TV, Jeffrey Daniel, who is Michael Jackson's choreographer, denied that he came up with the moonwalk dance.

Even though the founder of Shalamar didn't say who came up with the famous dance, he did say that he only changed and improved it to make it his.

"Well, I can say I created the dance, but I changed it to make it my own.

Even though the dance move is often credited to Michael Jackson, the debate about who came up with it may go on for a while.
