Jilted Lover Allegedly Kills Girlfriend Over Broken Heart In Koforidua

In a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Trom suburb of Koforidua, Eastern region, a jilted lover allegedly took the life of his girlfriend. The unsettling event unfolded at Junction 5 within the Trom community.

According to reports, the victim had decided to end her relationship with the suspect and had relocated to her current residence. On the day of the incident, while a naming ceremony was taking place in the house, the suspect visited his girlfriend.

Witnesses among the co-tenants mentioned that the girlfriend, believed to be 23 years old, went outside to meet the suspect and brought him into her room. Tragically, amidst the commotion of the naming ceremony, no one heard the victim's distress calls for help.

It is alleged that the suspect engaged in a struggle with the victim, forcibly placing a cloth in her mouth before slitting her throat. After committing this heinous act, he disposed of the knife used in a nearby bush behind the house before making a stealthy escape.

Later in the evening, wearing a red shirt with the inscription "Rest In Peace" at the back, the suspect reportedly surrendered himself to the police. The authorities then retrieved the victim's body, carefully documenting the crime scene before depositing her remains at the morgue.

The following day, on Sunday afternoon around 12 noon, the police returned to the crime scene with the suspect in order to search for the murder weapon, but their efforts proved unsuccessful. In the meantime, a group of angry youth from the community gathered at the scene, expressing their outrage and threatening to harm the suspect.

To defuse the escalating tension, the police swiftly whisked the suspect away in a taxi, removing him from the potentially dangerous situation. The investigation into this tragic incident continues, as the community grapples with the shock and grief caused by the loss of a young life.
