MP questions competence of Alan Kyeremateng’s wife in politics

In a recent event organized by Friends of Bawumia in Koforidua, Kofi Okyere-Agyekum, also known as Arafat, the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South, raised concerns about the competence of the wives of Presidential aspirants in the NPP Presidential race, including Alan Kyeremateng's wife.

Arafat stated that the role of wives of Presidential candidates and their running mates in elections is crucial, and he questioned the absence of other wives of Presidential aspirants and their capability in politics and governance.

Arafat cited the significant roles played by First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia in the 2016 and 2020 elections to support his argument. However, the Eastern Regional Campaign Coordinator of Alan Kyeremateng's campaign team, Ayeh Paye, who is also a former MP for Ayensuano, disagreed with Arafat's analysis.

Paye explained that the wives of aspirants become active in politics only when their husbands become Presidential candidates and running mates.

He further emphasized that the NPP Presidential Primary is a contest between the Party and the government, and he is optimistic that Alan Kyeremateng will win the Presidential candidature race to lead the NPP into the 2024 General election. He believes that the Party always triumphs, and this will help them break the eight-year cycle of power.
