More details have emerged about the police officer who shot and killed his girlfriend in Adum, Kumasi, on April 20, 2023. The shooting occurred at the forecourt of Dufie Towers and was captured on CCTV.

Here are three things we now know about Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, also known as "Tycoon," the officer responsible for the shooting:

Firstly, his full name has been revealed as Ahmed Twumasi. He is an Inspector in the Ghana police service and is popularly known as "Tycoon." Following the incident, he has reportedly gone into hiding and has contacted close friends to say that he may take his own life.

Secondly, "Tycoon" is stationed at the Manhyia Palace as one of the dedicated palace security. However, his unit is the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) of the Ashanti Region police command.

Lastly, although "Tycoon" is married with children, reports suggest that he was deeply in love with his girlfriend, Madwoa. CCTV footage captured the moment before he shot her five times, showing him giving her a kiss. Family members have said that Madwoa had decided to end the relationship with the police officer, which made him angry and led to the fatal shooting.
