Mahama's Bold Pledge: 60 Ministers to Save GHS350m and Transform Ghana

Samuel Okudzeto, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, praised former President John Dramani Mahama's acceptance speech as inspiring and patriotic.

Okudzeto commended Mahama's commitment to appointing a maximum of 60 ministers and deputies and ensuring that none of his appointees receive ex gratia payments, which could potentially save the Ghanaian taxpayer GHS35 million Cedis over four years.

Okudzeto expressed his support for Mahama's stance, stating that it is essential to avoid repeating the same ineffective and wasteful practices that have burdened the country with debt. He further emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people rather than personal gain. Mahama also addressed the issue of Ghanaians in the diaspora, advocating for their right to participate in elections and hold public offices without having to renounce their foreign citizenship.

He recognized the contributions of diaspora Ghanaians through their remittances and expressed optimism that improved conditions would encourage many of them to return and contribute to Ghana's development.
