Meet the Asante Chief Transforming his community with or without government

The Chief of Adwumakase Kese, a community in the Ashanti Region, Nana Asenso Kuffo Ababio, has promised to develop his own community with or without the help of the government.

Nana Asenso Kuffo Ababio broke ground on 14 March 2023 to build a state-of-the-art community centre for his people, as well as other important initiatives.

When completed, the community centre will have a seating capacity of 1,200, a guest house, numerous conference rooms and other incredible amenities for his subjects.

A factory and a police station with accommodation are among the other initiatives Nana Asenso Kuffo Ababio has started.

In an interview with the press, Nana Asenso Kuffo Ababio revealed that he has already invested GHC 400,000 in the project.

He added that he had decided to complete the project on his own rather than asking for contributions from other parties.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the project committee, Mr Osei Bonsu (Osbon), noted that although the amount invested would not allow for the completion of the project, it would be able to make some continuous progress.

To empower women in his community, Nana Asenso Kuffo Ababio revealed that one of the plans is to open a bakery where women, especially widows, will be trained.

He believes the bakery will reduce unemployment and give his people a new future.
