Methodist Church Reverend Who Criticised Akufo-Addo Not Suspended But….- Bishop

The Methodist Church Ghana's Bishop Bosompem Ayensu has refuted reports of the suspension of Rev. Dr. Solomon Nortey, who criticized President Akufo-Addo earlier this year. Rev. Dr. Nortey had previously voiced his disappointment in the president, whom he had supported and campaigned for during the elections.

He had stated that he fought his family members who were loyal to the opposition party in favor of Akufo-Addo, but was now regretting his decision. However, Bishop Ayensu clarified that no suspension had been issued against Rev. Dr. Nortey, and that he was still carrying out his duties at Mount Zion Methodist Church.
Bishop Ayensu also commented on Rev.

Dr. Nortey's use of the word "nonsense" to describe his disappointment with the president. While acknowledging the importance of the context in which such statements are made, he emphasized that as ministers, their words carried weight and were meant to advise and guide people. He suggested that Rev. Dr. Nortey may have been spoken to and advised about the manner in which he expressed his opinion, but no official action had been taken against him.

In an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Bishop Ayensu urged the public to disregard reports of Rev. Dr. Nortey's suspension, as no such action had been taken.
