Muntaka is plotting to kill me – Asawase NDC chairman alleges

Tensions are still high in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region's Asawase constituency, where the constituency chairman, Faisal Dauda, says the MP, Muntaka Mubarak, hired thugs to kill him.

The Asawase constituency has been called one of the National Democratic Congress (NDCstrongholds )'s in the Ashanti region over the years.

In recent weeks, however, there have been rumors of tension between Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the MP for the area who is also the minority chief whip, and Faisal Dauda, the NDC constituency chairman. This has made many party members nervous.

Many people have asked the two to smoke the peace pipe, but it looks like the tension between them is getting worse.

Faisal Dauda, the chairman of the Asawase NDC constituency, told reporters at a news conference in the constituency that the member of Parliament had planned to kill him because of their disagreement.

"Ever since I was the treasurer for my district, my life has been in danger. There was a time when Honourable Muntaka, the constituency organizer, the constituency vice chairman, and the former constituency chairman got together in his office at the Aboabo post office and library. He invited some bad boys and told them to kill the constituency deputy youth organizer and me.

Faisal Dauda also said that the minority chief whip is in bed with the current government and is planning for the NDC to lose the elections in 2024 because of this.

"Everyone knows that Hon. Muntaka has plotted against the NDC and worked with the NPP in Parliament. Everything that is going on in Parliament shows that Honourable Muntaka is working with the NPP to stop John Mahama from becoming president. He will continue to work for his own personal interests in Parliament to get what he wants as an individual.

So, the chairman of the Asawase NDC has promised that someone will run against the MP in the party's primaries.

"I only did it for him in 2019, and he won" (in running unopposed in the primaries). This time, he's not going to be able to do it. In Asawase, there will be a competition."

The allegations made against the Asawasi MP have been proven false by his office. So, Abdul Haq's secretary is asking the Ministry of the Interior and the Ghana Police Service to look into the claims.

"The Asawase NDC chairman's news conference was nothing. It was just a bunch of false claims with no basis. There's nothing special about it. I'd like to call the attention of the Interior Minister, the IGP, and the Ghana Police Service as a whole to the fact that he needs to be dealt with."

Abdul Haq's secretary and assistant told Citi News that they don't think the recent scandals will hurt Mr. Muntaka Mubarak's chances of winning the upcoming party primaries.
