Nana Addo peddled falsehood on COVID-19 funds – Murtala

The President claimed without remorse that there was no misuse of COVID funds.

According to the report presented to Parliament, the money was misused.

The President also claimed that there was no theft of COVID funds while staring us in the face.

Reports that the government had flagrantly misused funds meant for the nation's fight against COVID-19 were refuted by President Akufo-Addo.

In response to criticism and public outrage, the government, through the Ministry of Finance, said the money spent on direct COVID-19 interventions and general budget support was in line with the mandate set by Parliament and the Public Financial Management Act.

“It is crucial to demonstrate unequivocally that COVID funds were not wasted because the economic impact of the epidemic was so severe and prolonged.

The public's confidence must not be shaken by the revelation that a crisis in which they were led to believe we were all in this together was exploited for individual gain," the President said.
