Nobody Should Praise ‘Oldman’ Mahama For Paying His Electricity Bills, “Small Boys Also Pay Their Bills”- Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, thinks it's ridiculous for people to applaud former President John Mahama for paying his own electricity bills.

Wontumi believes that it's no big deal since even small boys also pay their light bills. Wontumi also called out Mahama for not returning the ex-gratia he received from the state, despite being an old man who can afford to pay his bills. He challenged Mahama to return all the ex-gratia if he wants to win the hearts of Ghanaians.

An old man like him pays his own bills and wants us to applaud him, so what about little boys who are not rich like him but pay their bills too? Little boys also pay their electricity bills, so we should rather ask Mahama to return his ex-gratia to the state, Chairman Wontumi said.

In a 2022 interview with an Accra based TV station, Mahama claimed that he only receives his monthly pension from the government, and all other bills the state should cover haven't been attended to since he left office in 2017.

However, Wontumi disapproves of Mahama's claim and stated that even 30-year-olds are paying their own rent and light bills, so Mahama should be ashamed of himself for still depending on the state, especially after receiving more ex-gratia than any living or dead President in Ghana.
