Jimoh Ganiyat, a 35-year-old auxiliary nurse, has been arrested by the police. He is accused of giving a 22-year-old graduate, Omosebi Tomiwa, an injection in the nerve, which made one of his legs useless forever.

The suspect, who was pretending to be a registered nurse in the Arigbajo area of Ogun State, was brought before an Itori Magistrate Court led by Mrs. O. F. Adeduntan on Monday, December 19, 2022.

She was brought before the magistrate on a 5-count charge that included being careless and negligent with the victim as well as hurting the victim and the mother on purpose.

After committing the crime, the accused person allegedly also threatened the victim's life and the life of his mother.

It was found that the accused person injected the victim in the nerve while trying to treat him for malaria and typhoid. This made one of his legs useless.

The charge against the nurse said, "That you Jimoh Ganiyat,f, on May 2, 2022, at 1 Olorunsogo Street, Arigbajo, Ewekoro, Ogun State, recklessly and negligently committed an act on one Omosebi Tomiwa by not giving him proper medical precautions and by putting his life in danger and thus committed an offense against section 343 (i,e,f,g) of Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State

"That you, Jimoh Ganiyat, on October 2, 2022, at about 21:15 at the same place in the same magisterial district hurt one Mrs. Omosebi Toyin and committed an offense punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006 by doing so.""

The victim told reporters, "In May, I wasn't feeling well, and the woman, who was known as a nurse at the time, was asked to help me." I didn't know back then that she wasn't a registered nurse."

"She gave me three shots, and when I felt a very sharp pain, I yelled at her to take it away. After three days, the pain was too much to bear, and one of my legs was completely messed up."

"It has made a big difference to me. My National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program could not get me to go. I should be in service right now, but the pain is too much."

He also said, "The worst thing is that she left me and then got very violent when she found out that my deformed leg would need a major surgery to fix it.""
