One injured, property vandalised as youth clash in Obuasi

Fear has spread through the whole Gausu community in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region after a group from Estate, a suburb of Obuasi, attacked some young people violently. The group is thought to have come from Obuasi.

One of the Estate youth was cut by a cutlass in the head and on other parts of his body. He is being treated at the Obuasi Government Hospital.

Some people in the Gausu community told Isaac K. Normanyo, an Adom News reporter, that the incident began around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

People said that guns were being pulled and cutlasses were being thrown every now and then.

"We want the police to make sure that those who caused trouble face the full force of the law."

In the fight that followed, one person was seriously hurt, a motorcycle was burned, and a car was completely trashed.

At the same time, three people are being held by the police to help with their investigations.

Dauda Tahiru, the assembly member for the Gausu electoral area, said that this kind of trouble has happened in the community before. He also said that he hopes the people who were arrested this time will go to jail.

Mr. Tahiru said he is sure that putting the man in jail will stop other people in other parts of the municipality from committing crimes in the name of "gangs."
