Only Criminal Leaders Give Tax Breaks in Mining - Kagame

RWANDAN President Paul Kagame says that it is the worst kind of crime for any African leader to give tax breaks to mining companies so that they can mine without paying the taxes they should.

Kagame, who is a Pan-Africanist, said that African presidents who think that Westerners have all the answers for Africa are wrong.

He says that some leaders are funny because they want to get rid of subsidies on goods but give mining companies tax breaks.

Recently, when he was speaking to Congo Brazzaville's parliament, the Rwandan President said that he knows a lot of African leaders who have gone to the West with begging bowls after giving tax breaks to mining companies at home.

"African leaders should change the way they think and realize that they can only solve the problems they face as countries and as a continent by working together.

I've seen some of my brothers on this continent become leaders and then go to the West with a bowl to ask for help.

At the same time, I'm confused and angry.
