Over 100 DataBank staff at Finance Ministry being paid as GRA Commissioners – Ato Forson alleges

Forson also said that some spokespersons at Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are paid more than the Directors of these Institutions.

He said, among other things, that the fact that Data Bank employees were hired as Special Assistants at the Finance Ministry and paid as Customs Commissioners by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) contributed to the economic mess that the country is in right now.

Forson, who was also Deputy Minister of Finance, mentioned in a tweet that the government led by Akufo-Addo was the biggest in the country's history and that in 2017, it had more than 125 ministers, which had never happened before.

He also said that the government has more than 1,000 people working for the president as "Article 71 office holders" at Jubilee House, and that many ministers have "Special Assistants" who are paid close to what a Deputy Minister makes at the different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Mr. Forson also said that some spokespersons at Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are paid more than the Directors of these Institutions. He said that the Chief Executive Officers of the different State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) were putting a strain on the country's finances with their high salaries and conditions of service for as many as three or four Deputy Chief Executive Officers.

Ato Forson says that more than 100 DataBank staff at the Finance Ministry are being paid as GRA commissioners.
The member of parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam in the Central Region talked about how the over 50 new agencies with no output hurt the Ghanaian economy financially. He said that these agencies include the Costal Development Agency (CODA), the Northern Development Agency (NADA), the Free SHS Secretariat, the 1D1F Secretariat, and many others.
