PHOTOS: Family of late Christian Atsu meets President Akufo-Addo

The family of the late Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu met with the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to discuss funeral arrangements.

Representatives of the Ghana Football Association were also present on 27 February.

The President expressed his condolences to the family during the meeting and described Atsu as a gift from God to the nation.

He also assured the family that the government would take all necessary steps to ensure that the late player is buried with dignity.

Depending on the date set by the family and the Ghana Football Association, President Akufo-Addo has instructed the Chief of Staff to ensure that Atsu's funeral is organised with official support.

The President pledged government's support to ensure that Atsu is given a befitting burial.

The family has arranged for the late footballer to lie in state for a week from March 4, while the exact date of the funeral is yet to be determined.
