Pastor Stoned To Death After Being Found Near Murder Scene; See What Happened

Pastor Julius Mugisa, 30, was mobbed for allegedly shooting Tobias Komunda, 30.
After inhabitants of Igogonya village stoned a 30-year-old Pentecostal church minister to death, Kabarole District police are investigating a double murder case.

On Friday, a crowd in Igogonya village attacked God's Power Revival Healing Church Kikoyo pastor Julius Mugisa for allegedly shooting 30-year-old Tobias Komunda.

Pastor Mugisa started the church in Kikoyo village, Kyamuhoro ward, Kibasi town council, Kabarole District.
Police received reports that the cleric and four others drove to Komunda's residence in Igogonya village at 5pm.

A group of five unknown people in a white vehicle with an unknown registration plate went to the deceased's home (Komunda) at around 5pm. They bargained for 30 minutes behind Komunda's house. Before Komunda expelled them, they misunderstood. According to witness testimonies, Komunda tried to pelt them with a stone but was shot in the head and died.

Police said the perpetrators, including a lady, rushed into the waiting vehicle and fled, leaving Pastor Mugisa alone. However, furious residents stopped him from fleeing the crime site.

“The preacher escaped, but residents responding to gunshots identified him. Mr. Twesige claimed, "A huge number of irate citizens battered and overwhelmed the area police officers who sought to rescue him."

Mr. Twesige said preliminary police findings indicate that the two deceased and the remaining four assailants at large were involved in an illicit transaction that they failed to agree on how to split.

The assailants and deceased (Tobias Komunda and Julius Mugisa) knew each other before the incident. "They had a disagreement over an undisclosed illicit transaction where they failed to split equally since one of the deceased's daughters (Komunda) overheard them (assailants) demanding their shares," he claimed.

Mr. Twesige stated police found two SMG rifle cartridges, one pistol cartridge, and one SMG live ammunition at Komunda's murder site.

Mr. Posiano Ategeka, Kibasi town council chairman, was surprised to learn that Pastor Mugisa was assassinated by a mob after being implicated in Kamunda's murder.

“The departed pastor had many disciples. I was too busy to attend a fundraising ceremony at his church last Sunday as his principal guest. “His death stunned me,” he remarked.
