Police Bust Kidnapping Ring: Four Arrested in Cape Coast

The Police have apprehended four individuals suspected of kidnapping at their rented residence in Ntranoa, near Ankaful, Cape Coast. One of the suspects, who disguised himself and entered a mosque, was reportedly killed. However, two other suspects, including their alleged leader in his 60s, managed to escape and are currently on the run.

During an operation conducted on Wednesday evening, the Police rescued several victims in their 20s who were taken to the hospital. It was discovered that the suspected kidnappers had enticed the victims from Accra and other parts of the country with job opportunities. The victims were then held at the suspects' fenced apartment for illegal purposes. Surprisingly, the apartment was owned by a university lecturer.

According to information gathered from the community, the suspects, believed to be francophone nationals, had been present in the area for approximately two months. Despite their presence, the suspects did not arouse suspicion of involvement in activities such as trafficking or rituals.

The events took a turn on Wednesday afternoon when one of the victims managed to escape and sought help from community members. The Regional Police Headquarters were promptly informed, preventing the suspects from being lynched by angry locals. One of the suspects attempted to escape but was caught and beaten by the community before being handed over to the Police. In the evening, a female suspect who claimed to be the cook for the kidnappers was also arrested.

During the operation, the Police discovered talismans, knives, and other implements in the apartment. The victims, along with their belongings and mattresses, were transported on a bus. When contacted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Police declined to provide any comments on the matter.

In conclusion, four suspected kidnappers have been apprehended by the Police in Ntranoa, with one suspect killed and two others still on the run. The victims, who were lured with job opportunities, were rescued during a successful operation. The community had been unaware of the suspects' criminal activities, and their arrest came as a surprise. The Police confiscated several items from the apartment, and the victims were transported to safety.
