Police Investigate Gruesome Murder Of Farmer And Girlfriend In Sunyani

Brosankro-Aprakukrom, (B/R), Nov. 30, GNA – People in the Brosankro-Aprakukrom community near Abronye in the Sunyani West Municipality are shocked and can't believe that a 25-year-old farmer and his 21-year-old girlfriend were killed in a strange way.

Francis Kwame Awuah's body was found in his room with multiple cutlass wounds on the head. Lydia Akosua's body, which also had multiple cutlass wounds, was found in a cashew farm just a few meters from his boy friend's house in a farming community. Both bodies had been killed with a cutlass.

Mr. Atta Kwasi Dognekoh Sr., the Assemblyman for the Abronye Electoral Area, confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). He said the sad event might have happened between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, November 27, 2022.

He said that no one had been arrested yet, but that the police had taken the bodies to the Sunyani Regional Hospital Mortuary for storage and an autopsy while the case was still being looked into.

Mr. Dognekoh said that he was at a funeral at Atronie, near Sunyani, on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. when he got a call from the community saying that someone had been killed at a cashew farm in the area. He quickly told members of the local Unit Committee to go to Odumase and tell the police about the situation.

"The cashew farmer hired some people to work on his farm, and when they got there, they found the body face down in a pool of blood," he said.

"After a few minutes, I got another call saying that another butchered body had been found. This time, it was a man in his room near the cashew farm. "So I called and told the police myself, and they rushed to the scene and got the bodies," Mr. Dognekoh said.

He said that the incident had caused fear and panic in the area, and he asked the police to move quickly with their investigations. He said, "This is a horrible thing that happened, and the police must move quickly to find the murderers and bring them to justice."
