Sad Ending: Okadaman Dead in Motorcycle Stunt Riding Accident On Kasoa-Ofaakor Road

"Okadaman" dies in a stunt riding accident on the Kasoa-Ofaakor road. Nowadays, stunt riding is common.

It is said that you can be a good stuntman, but your "personal gods" may not be there on the day of the big show.

This may have been the case last Sunday when an okada man tried to put a sign on his motorcycle but failed and died on the Kasoa-Ofaakor road in the Central Region.

Eyewitnesses said the young man, believed to be in his early thirties, was on his regular rounds at about 6.30pm that day when he decided to show off his stunt riding skills, known as 'adaga' in the local language.

Locals said he had been doing something for a while when he suddenly lost control of his bike, fell to the ground and died instantly with blood gushing from his head.

People who ran to where he lay in a pool of blood said the man known as 'Enemies' wasn't wearing a helmet. On the Kasoa-Ofaakor stretch, okada riders who do business at a place called 'Old Timers' are said to know him well.

Reports say the rider didn't compete with anyone and only put on a one-man show when he was out of luck.

Some people who spoke to The Spectator were concerned that some motorcyclists were driving recklessly and doing more stunts, especially at weekends when the roads were less busy.

"Sometimes it's hard to figure out what's wrong with these okada riders. They don't care about anything and drive like there's no tomorrow. The police do their best to make sure people wear helmets, but some riders still don't care about basic safety measures.

One of the witnesses said, "This accident is sad, but the young man would have lived if he had been wearing his helmet".

Meanwhile, people from the Motor Transport and Traffic Department of the Ghana Police Service had moved the body of the dead man.
