Sammy Gyamfi provides evidence to discredit Bawumia’s claim of 2 million jobs created

Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has presented evidence to counter Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s claim that the government has created over two million jobs in the past six years.

During his address at the national Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, Dr. Bawumia spoke about job creation and opportunities for the youth, stating that the government had created two million jobs since 2017. However, this claim was met with skepticism by the public, who questioned the veracity of the data provided.

In response, Dr. Bawumia posted on Facebook a comprehensive list detailing the number of jobs created under each category, specifying the ministry, agency, or department of the ministry in which the jobs were created. He urged those who doubted the figures to do away with negative thinking and accept the evidence provided.

Sammy Gyamfi, however, discredited Dr. Bawumia’s claim by citing the 2017 and 2023 budgets. According to him, the 2017 budget showed a total of 626,781 public sector workers in all MDAs, while the 2023 budget puts the figure at 804,240, representing a nominal increase of 177,459. He questioned where Dr. Bawumia got the figure of 1.2 million, which he added to make the total number of jobs created 2 million.
