The teacher had been propositioning the girl for a long time, and the girl had complained to her mother about the incident, but nothing could be done because they needed proof. In order to record any inappropriate behaviour by the male teacher at school, the mother decided to give her daughter a mobile phone.

The girl was driven home by the male teacher. The girl reveals what was said in the car while the teacher was driving.

As he described what he was going to do to her and how they were going to "make out", the teacher made the discourse inappropriate while promising that he would "not go too far". The girl secretly filmed the whole thing and eventually told the other teachers.

The teacher was found guilty by the Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) of South Africa and charged with "sexual assault" of the student. The teacher was sacked for abusing a 14-year-old girl after all the video evidence was collected.
