See what happened to businessman who attempted to use daughter for money rituals

Evans Oppong Kyekyeku is being held for allegedly using his daughter for money rituals. Police Prosecutors are awaiting the Attorney General's advice on how to proceed.

The businessman was arrested in June after the spiritualist exposed him for sending his 11-year-old daughter to be sacrificed.
His plea was retained for Preparation to Commit Murder.

Evans Kyekyeku Oppong received GHc500,000 bail with two sureties from the Accra High Court.

He provided two justifiable sureties and the bail sum.

Oppong, a 47-year-old machine operator, was detained on June 3 when his spiritualist revealed his plan to kill his 11-year-old daughter.

Last year, the prosecutors sent the duplicate case docket to the AG's office for advice.

Murtala Inusah, EIB Network's Legal Affairs Correspondent, reported that the accused will return to court on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Chief Inspector Amoah told the court that Evans Kyekyeku Oppong, 47, is the father of the 11-year-old victim.
He stated the suspect lived in Holland for years but moved to Ghana a year ago (2021).

In May 2022, the suspect told his friend Kwame that he was struggling financially, the prosecutor said.

Chief Inspector Amoah informed the court that the friend offered a spiritual cleaning for the suspect to turn things around.

The companion later introduced the suspect to Nana Fosu alias Nana K.K to help him meet a spiritualist.

On May 29, Nana Fosu took the suspect to Oyibi Kon spiritualist and herbalist Nana Adu-Boafo Jnr for money rituals.

Chief Inspector Amoah said Nana Adu-Boafo Jnr consented to do the money rituals for the suspect and told him to get a live python from someone in Kasoa.

The suspect later told the Spiritualist that he is frightened of snakes and will return for more advice.

“The suspect afterwards discussed human sacrifice for money rituals with the Spiritualist.

“The Spiritualist feigned interest and urged the suspect to give him with the date of births of his last two (2) children to allow him to select which of them will be suited for the sacrifice,” Chief Inspector Amoah told the court.

On May 31, the suspect called the victim's mother to confirm her birth date and told her he would pick her up to take her to a friend who had returned from abroad for measurement so he could stitch her a frock.

“The suspect gave the Spiritualist his birth date as required. The Spiritualist then informed the Oyibi Police about the suspect's planned human sacrifice, and the police advised him to play along so the suspect could be apprehended when he brought the child to the Herbal Centre for the sacrifice, he told the court.

He stated that the Spiritualist afterwards informed the suspect that he had spiritually investigated the date of birth of the two children and that the victim was acceptable for sacrifice.

On June 3, 2022, the Spiritualist ordered the suspect to bring the victim to his Herbal Centre.
“In the morning of June 3, 2022, the suspect called his elder brother to release his car to visit a Herbal Centre for treatment after a car accident.

He added that at 8 am, the elder brother gave his son the vehicle to take the suspect to the herbal center and pick up the victim at Amasaman on the way.

“At Oyibi, suspect urged driver to wait for him and took over car. The suspect then bought three "Ghana must go" bags and two schnapps.

“The suspect arrived at the Herbal Centre with the victim, who was told by the Spiritualist to sit in the Hall while the suspect changed his clothes on the compound and was handed a white calico to tie around his waist.

The defendant was bathed in a mixture, and the Spiritualist alerted the Oyibi Police, who apprehended him and freed the victim. "Investigation continues," the prosecutor said.
