Shocking Revelations: Assin North MP Exposes Influential Figures Behind Court Decisions

Joe Quayson, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, has claimed that influential figures are behind the decisions to prevent him from serving in Parliament according to a report by Adom Online.

Speaking to delegates from the Assin North Constituency in the Central region, Quayson argued that it is not the responsibility of the Supreme Court to restrict an MP, as this is a matter for the high court.

He suggested that certain decisions are influenced by powerful individuals, but expressed confidence that the courts will ultimately do the right thing.

He stated that: We are living in a different atmosphere where some decisions are influenced by some high powers because it is not the responsibility of the apex court to restrict an MP. But I am still confident that the courts will do the right thing, he noted.

On March 3, 2023, Quayson suffered another setback when the Supreme Court unanimously dismissed his application for review of a decision relating to his trial before an Accra High Court.

The MP had sought to reverse the previous ruling of a five-member panel, which had declined to prohibit Justice Mary Yanzuh from presiding over his trial.

Despite this latest defeat, Quayson remains determined to serve his constituents and the country at large, and vowed to continue following all rules and regulations.
