Dr. Clement Apaak, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has voiced his concerns about the current state of education under the Akufo-Addo government. This follows a video that has been circulating showing toilets being used as dormitories for students.

In a statement, Dr. Apaak pointed out that the government's lackadaisical attitude towards education has led to this unfortunate situation. He expressed his shock at the fact that under the current administration, secondary school students are being housed in converted toilets, which is a clear indication of neglect for the education sector.

Dr. Apaak highlighted several other challenges facing the education sector, such as inadequate furniture, unwholesome food, erratic academic calendars, and overworked teaching and non-teaching staff. Despite these challenges, the government continues to engage in profligate spending, including the failure to remit a single pesewa to cover library and ICT fees under the Free SHS policy.

Dr. Apaak believes that the government's spending priorities need to be re-evaluated. He questions whether it's more important to fund personal projects such as a pledged cathedral, luxury jets, and sharing Covid-19 funds with party and government officials or to invest in education. He feels that the Nana Addo/Bawumia NPP government's record in the education sector is most embarrassing, and that the damage and retrogression caused will take years to fix.
