Soldier Kills Area Boy In Self Defence, When Attacked By Hoodlums

On the 7th of February 2023, in Oshodi, Lagos State, unidentified bad guys attacked a soldier who was doing his job.

In self-defence, the soldier allegedly stabbed one of the hoodlums, who was seriously injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital where he was rushed after the attack.

She said the soldier was walking in front of them when they attacked him from behind. A person who witnessed the incident told her. "I don't know if they were trying to steal his phone, but they were fighting and he ran away to a nearby barracks. The other boys ran away too. She told us that after they ran away, we saw one of them lying dead on the ground.

The soldier who was attacked and injured is said to be receiving treatment in a military medical facility.

Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni, who is the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 81 Division, said efforts were still on to find out what happened. He also said that the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army recently raided the Oshodi general area, where he said over 116 people suspected to be criminals were arrested. He said some of the things found were a locally made pistol, local charms, Indian hemp, tramadol and other things.

"The suspects were caught at Railside, Brown Street, Araromi and other parts of Oshodi axis," he said. "The soldier was attacked in the same area of Oshodi."
