Spiritually Mahama can’t hold the sword 3 times; it won’t happen – Koku Anyidoho

According to Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), spiritually, former President John Dramani Mahama cannot swear the Oath of the High Office of the President for the third time. Anyidoho explained that traditionally, a Ghanaian can only hold the sword and be sworn into office as President twice, which Mahama has already accomplished in 2012 after succeeding the late President John Evans Atta Mills and in 2013 after winning the 2012 general elections.

Anyidoho, who is a member of the campaign team for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, an aspiring flagbearer of the NDC, expressed his belief during an interview with TV3 on May 8. He mentioned that historically, other presidents like Jerry Rawlings and President Kufuor held the sword twice, while President Mills held it once before his unfortunate demise. Anyidoho questioned why Mahama would seek to hold the sword for the third time and potentially bring a curse upon the country.

He also pointed out that Nana Addo, the current President, cannot hold the sword for a third time either. Anyidoho emphasized that Mahama's presumption that Ghana belongs solely to him and his attempt to disrupt the nation spiritually and physically will not and cannot be allowed to happen.

It is worth noting that Mahama is vying to become the flagbearer of the NDC for the 2024 general elections. If successful, this would mark his third consecutive time as the party's flagbearer.
