Suspected Kidnappers Of Former University VC Arrested

Two people have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Prof. Adigun Agbaje, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, and a few other people.

Agbaje and a few other people were taken from the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Guru Maharajji at about 6 p.m. on October 29. He was coming home from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye when bandits shot at his car and took him and others hostage.

After the kidnappers were paid a ransom, they were let go. Since then, the kidnappers have been on the run from the Oyo State Police Command.

On a radio show in Ibadan, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, said that two suspects had been arrested.

He also said that the suspects' dresses and some cash were found in the bush where they did their business.

Williams also said that the Oyo Peace Committee was being set up and that its first meeting would be tomorrow. This was to improve community security, surveillance, and information flow (Friday).

He said that the committee is made up of well-known people and traditional leaders.

"On December 2, the committee will get all the politicians together to sign a peace deal," He said.
