Suspected criminals who specialize in trailing bank customers and robbing them arrested

Two people who are thought to be thieves have been caught by police in Sokoto state. They are experts at following people who take cash out of banks and stealing their money.

In a statement, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, who is the spokesperson for the state police command, says that there have been reports of criminals following bank customers after they get cash out and stealing the money, especially as the holiday season is coming up quickly.


Abubakar said that this was why the police stepped up their efforts and caught a group of criminals at Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital. These criminals had been following a bank customer from a first-generation bank until he parked his Honda Accord at UDUS while they tried to open it in a compromising way with some tools.

Chubuke Obaduke and Efeanyi Odu, both of Ogbuta LGA in Imo State, are the people who have been arrested. During the police investigation, both suspects told how they were able to find the car's owner at a bank in Sokoto metropolis where he had taken out #750,000 in cash and kept it in his car. The statement said in part that they were able to do this because they knew where the money came from.
Abubakar also said that efforts are being made to catch other people involved in the plot, especially those who give the criminals a place to stay and, in turn, benefit from their loot.

He said that profiles had been made of the people who had been arrested and that they would be taken to court when the investigation was over.
