She left home on Saturday night to spend time with her friends. Simply put, we went looking for her. On Sunday morning, we arrived early at Migori police station to file a report.

We tried to find her by knocking on everyone's doors, but to no avail. That Sunday, after church, I went back to the station and begged the police to look hard for our girl," recalls the victim's aunt, Caroline George.

According to the local chief constable, the search for the missing schoolgirl began on Monday. Until yesterday, when a note describing the exact location of the body was found in a pit latrine, the police had conducted a thorough search of the area, but to no avail.

A handwritten note stating that the body was dumped in a toilet at a primary school teacher's homestead was found today and plastered on the walls of a shop in the market, according to the Meru County Police Commander.

He admitted to defiling the child, killing her and hiding her body in a pit latrine after being questioned by authorities. Wanjala claimed that he took us to where the body was dumped.

After the body was discovered on the teacher's property, angry neighbours, who believed the teacher to be a member of a cult, set fire to her house. Firefighters eventually extinguished the blaze, but not before a considerable amount of property was lost.

To prevent such unfortunate incidents, the police chief advised parents to always keep an eye on their children. The suspect is currently in police custody pending charges.
