‘That is respect’ – Lawmaker praises Bawumia for consulting MPs

The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Collins Adomako-Mensah, has expressed admiration for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's approach to announcing his intention to run for the NPP presidential primaries. Dr. Bawumia met with NPP members beforehand to inform them of his plans before making a public announcement, which Hon. Adomako-Mensah believes is a sign of respect.

Dr. Bawumia has now officially declared his candidacy for the governing New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearership race after receiving significant endorsement from the party's rank and file. Prior to the announcement, Hon. Adomako-Mensah shared that Dr. Bawumia had requested a meeting with NPP MPs to inform them of his intentions, which he commended as a show of respect.

Several NPP MPs had already pledged their support for Dr. Bawumia before he confirmed his candidacy. Other contenders in the race include former Trade Minister John Alan Kyeremanten, MP of Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko. Dr. Bawumia is considered one of the frontrunners in the race.
